Growth, Affordability, and Climate Action Can Work Together

8/30/2026

Practical Climate Action: Supporting climate goals with practical, affordable, measurable action.
  • I am pleased to share that I have signed ClimateActionWR’s 2026 Climate Candidate Pledge. You can read the pledge below.
  • I’m not especially interested in political labels, including being described as a “Climate Candidate.” What matters to me is the substance of the commitment.
  • I support Waterloo Region’s climate targets and believe municipalities have an important role to play in building a more sustainable and resilient community. I also believe climate action must be practical, effective, affordable and measurable, and integrated with responsible growth, infrastructure planning and economic development.
  • Signing this pledge does not mean giving up my responsibility to examine each issue on its merits. As a councillor, I would continue to evaluate individual proposals based on their effectiveness, cost, impact on residents and businesses, and whether they represent good municipal policy.
  • That is how I approach every issue: support the goal, examine the evidence, and make the decision that I believe is best for Cambridge and Ward 7.

2026 Municipal Election Climate Candidate Pledge
As a Climate Candidate, I believe our local councils have the power to deliver transformative climate action in Waterloo Region.
If elected, I promise to:
  1. Increase action to reach our emissions reductions targets, including an 80% reduction by 2050 and a 50% reduction by 2030, as set out in the TransformWR strategy and endorsed by all eight municipalities within the Region of Waterloo.
  2. Apply a holistic approach to decision-making, recognizing the interconnectedness of social, economic, and climate issues and adopting solutions that address multiple challenges, reduce inequities, create economic prosperity, and build a more resilient community.
  3. Advocate to senior levels of government, recognizing that the success of municipal climate action in our community depends on supportive policies and partnerships with provincial and federal levels of government.
