ABOUT DAVID

Background:

  • Proud resident of Cambridge since 1999
  • Raised in Guelph by two teachers in the local Catholic school system
  • Husband to Anna and father of Noah & Kathryn, both graduates of St. Benedict's High School in Cambridge

Leadership:

  • Graduate of Leadership Waterloo Region's Community Leadership Development program
  • Chair of Fiddlesticks Community Centre Board of Directors from 2013 - 2015
  • Division Coordinator for Mentor Discover Inspire (MDI), responsible for administration of 6 men's teams across southern Ontario from 2020 - present
  • Launched Clear Path Employer Services, an HR consulting firm, with my wife in 2003, grew it from a one-woman operation to a team of 20+ HR professionals before selling the business in 2017

Values:

  • Passionate supporter of education, economic empowerment, children's welfare, social justice, environmental protection, politics, arts & culture
  • Avid world traveller, movie and music fan, amateur iPhone photographer, writer

Community Involvement:

  • Cancer survivor and passionate supporter of Terry Fox Run organization
  • Participated on St. Benedict School Parent Council from 2015 - 2018
  • Ongoing volunteer with Fiddlesticks Community Centre
  • Executive member for Cambridge Girls' Choir
  • Volunteer with House of Friendship's Christmas Hamper program
  • Volunteer with Ray of Hope food kitchen
  • Volunteer with Cambridge Food Bank
  • One-on-one Big Brother for 8 years until my Little Brother turned 18 years old with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel
  • Volunteer Presenter for Junior Achievement of Waterloo Region teaching their Grade 5 "Our Business World" program
  • Team Manager and volunteer with Cambridge Minor Hockey Association
  • Volunteer Coach with Cambridge Minor Soccer Association

Experience and Education:

  • Proud graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) with a degree in History and Political Science
  • Currently works as Administrator of Wesley United Church in Cambridge, where he facilitated the opening of an overnight Warming Centre for men experiencing homelessness, along with the Region of Waterloo and Porchlight Counselling & Addiction Services.
